Set sail from Pula on a 4-hour half-day sailing tour and discover a combination of sailing, swimming and snorkeling in secluded coves, while exploring the natural beauty of the Brijuni archipelago and part of the Istrian coast towards Rovinj.

This tour is designed as a completely flexible experience at sea. Instead of a strictly defined route, an experienced and approachable skipper suggests the most interesting locations at the moment, while you decide where to stay and how to spend your time on the water.

During the excursion, you can swim in quiet coves, tour the Brijuni coast, try stand-up paddle or simply relax with a glass of Istrian wine on deck. With a limited number of guests (up to 6 on a shared tour or 8 on a private tour), a relaxed and intimate atmosphere is ensured for a personalized experience of the Adriatic.

Itinerary - Weekend Sailing in Istria

Travel plan

“Istrian Sailing Weekend” is a three-day program that combines daily sailing and exploring the most beautiful locations on the west coast of Istria, departing from Pula. Upon arrival, you will meet the skipper, settle into the Elan 331 sailboat, and begin a short introductory briefing before setting sail.

Day 1: Pula – Medulin – Pula
The first day of sailing takes you from Pula south, along the coast to Cape Kamenjak and further towards Medulin. During the route, you have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing and actively participate according to your own wishes and level of engagement. There is a break in Medulin, followed by a return to Pula in the afternoon. Overnight stay is organized in an apartment in Pula.

Day 2: Pula – Rovinj
After breakfast, you will set sail from Pula towards Rovinj. Sailing along the coast offers the opportunity to relax or actively participate in the maneuvers of the sailboat with the support of the skipper. Upon arrival in Rovinj, free time to explore the city on your own. The second night is spent in an apartment accommodation in Rovinj.

Day 3: Rovinj – Brijuni National Park – Pula
The final day includes a sail from Rovinj to the Brijuni National Park (Veliki Brijun), with time planned for sightseeing on foot or by bike. After the exploration, a return sail to Pula follows, arriving in the late afternoon and concluding the program.

Start of the tour (Friday)

The meeting is on Friday morning in front of Konzum in Pula, where there is time to buy food, drinks and other necessities for the weekend at sea.

After that, together with the skipper, you go to the marina where the Elan 331 sailboat is waiting for you. Upon arrival, you will board and be introduced to the boat, equipment and basic safety rules at sea, with a brief overview of the sailing plan for the entire program.

At the same time, you will be given instructions on how to participate in sailing and how the activities can be adapted to the group’s wishes and experience level. When the crew is ready, they set sail from Pula towards Medulin, officially starting the “Istrian Sailing Weekend”.

Day 1 – Discovering southern Istria from the sea

The day begins with a departure from the port of Pula and a sailing trip to Medulin, gradually introducing you to the basic elements of sailing. From the very first moments, you have the opportunity to participate in the crew’s work – from maintaining the course to assisting in handling the sails, or simply observing and learning through practice.

The sailing continues along the western coast of Istria towards the area of ​​Cape Kamenjak, where a short break is made. Anchor is dropped in one of the naturally protected bays, which allows for rest, enjoyment of the scenery and a short break at sea.

After the break, the journey continues towards Medulin, where there is free time for relaxation, walking or individual lunch in the town, depending on the wishes of the group.

In the afternoon, the return to Pula begins, with the option of continuing active participation in sailing or a relaxed ride. Upon arrival in Pula, a departure to the accommodation is organized, and the rest of the day is free for your own rhythm and rest.

Day 2 – Sailing through northern Istria and evening in Rovinj

After checking out of your accommodation, the day begins with a sail from Pula northwards, with the aim of arriving in Rovinj. During the sailing along the western coast of Istria, you have the opportunity to further develop your sailing skills through basic maneuvers or simply relax and enjoy the scenery that changes along the coast.

Along the way, a short stop is planned in Fažana, a small fishing village ideal for a short break, a walk or a coffee before continuing the journey. Throughout the route, the skipper draws attention to interesting points and natural details that accompany the sailing.

Before arriving in Rovinj, you will also receive practical guidelines to make your stay in the city as pleasant and simple as possible. After docking, you will have a free afternoon for individual exploration – from a walk through the old town streets and a visit to the Church of St. Euphemia to relaxing by the sea, having food or a drink in one of the many local bars.

In the evening, accommodation is organized in an apartment in Rovinj, while the rest of the evening is free for your own rhythm, rest or socializing.

Final day – Brijuni and return to Pula

After checking out of your Rovinj accommodation, the morning begins with a sail to the Brijuni National Park, the last major leg of your sailing weekend. During the sail, you have the opportunity to consolidate all the skills you have learned so far or simply relax and enjoy the peace of the open sea and the island landscape.

Upon arrival at Veliki Brijun, you will disembark and have a few hours of free time to explore the island. Brijuni offer a combination of natural beauty and rich history, and you can explore them on foot along well-maintained trails, rent a bike, or visit museum and archaeological sites scattered around the island.

During your stay, there is also a lunch break, which you can organize in one of the catering facilities on the island, according to your own choice and pace.

After sightseeing and rest, return to the ship and the final sail to Pula. Arrival at the home port in the late afternoon marks the end of the three-day program and your sailing experience in Istria.

End of the program – return to Pula

The “Istrian Sailing Weekend” ends with your arrival at Marina Polesana in Pula on Sunday afternoon. After docking and securing the sailboat, there will be a short final conversation with the skipper, during which you will review the entire route, the joint activities, and the knowledge and experience gained over the past few days.

After a final review and summary of the program, you will have the opportunity to say goodbye to the skipper and the rest of the crew. This concludes the organized part of the trip, and the continuation of your stay in Istria or your return home will be according to your personal plans.

What is not included in the Beginner Sailing Course?

The following costs are not included in the course price:

  • Food and drinks during the course
  • Cost of mooring in Rovinj (approx. 25 EUR, shared among all participants)
  • Tickets and mooring on Brijuni (120 EUR before 01.06., or 170 EUR after 01.06., also shared among participants)

What do I need to bring to the Beginner Sailing Course?

It is recommended to bring waterproof clothing and layered, warmer clothing adapted to the changing weather conditions at sea. It is also important to have footwear with good grip (non-slip), given that conditions on the boat can be wet and occasionally windy.

Is previous experience required to participate?

No previous experience is necessary. The program is designed for complete beginners, and all you need to do is come with an open mind, ready to learn and spend several days at sea.

Instructors guide you through every step of the process, with an individual approach and adaptation to the pace of the group, so that all elements of sailing are mastered gradually and safely.

What are the cancellation conditions for a reservation?

The reservation can be canceled no later than 7 days before the planned departure, with the right to a full refund of the amount paid.

In case of cancellation within 7 days before the start of the course, no refund is possible.

What is the accommodation like during the course?

You spend the first night in an apartment accommodation in Pula, while the second night is organized in Rovinj. This way you have the opportunity to experience two different Istrian cities and explore their atmosphere and facilities at your leisure, especially Rovinj’s old town in the evening hours.

How do meals and drinks work during the course?

Before the course begins, you have the option to independently purchase food and drinks to use during your stay on board. During the program, there are also opportunities for breaks and meals on land, where you can sample local Istrian gastronomy in Pula, Medulin and Rovinj.

How many participants are on board?

The number of participants varies depending on the term, but the emphasis is always on small groups to ensure a quality and individualized learning experience.

You can book the course as a private group or join a joint program with other participants with similar interests. The maximum number of participants in one course is 5 people.

What if the weather conditions are not favorable?

Safety comes first. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, the program can be adjusted, the course date postponed or, if this is not feasible, a full refund of the paid amount can be offered.

You will be informed about all changes in a timely manner, with the aim of ensuring a safe and quality experience at sea.

Is the Beginner Sailing Course suitable for younger and older participants?

The course is intended for active people aged 15 and over. The program includes moderate physical activity and several hours on board, so it is recommended for participants who are ready for this type of dynamic and practical experience at sea.
